CURRICULUM

 

Brian Martínez, spanish composer. He studied Composition, Harmony, Counterpoint, Fugue, and Instrumentation at the conservatory ‘Joaquín Rodrigo’ of Valencia. While carrying on his musical education, he completed his studies at the University of Valencia, graduating as a Physicist.

 

His works have been played in concert halls and classical music festivals all over the world, like 'Palau de la Música de Valencia' (main city hall), Cultural Center 'La Beneficència' (Valencia), Palace 'Marqués de dos aguas' (Valencia), The Killian Hall (Massachussets Institute of Technology, Boston), Concert Hall 'El Aleph' (Buenos Aires, Argentina), The Riverside Recital Hall (University of Iowa), The Jan Hus Church ( New York City), by musicians such as Ronald Romm (Canada), John Manning (USA), Paul Archibald (England), Frank Lloyd (Germany), Jacques Mauguer (France), Daniel Sachs (Switzerland), as well played by groups as The Atlantic Brass Quintet (USA), The Tritantic Brass Ensemble (USA), Ensemble 'Música nueva' (Buenos Aires, Argentina), The youth Orchestra 'Turina' (Valencia, Spain), the Orchestra of the University of Maimónides (Argentina), The String Orchestra "Concertante" (Nis, Serbia), among others.

 

He has won several prizes for different works. In 2013, his work ‘Gloria in excelsis Deo’ for choir, was awarded the first prize of the international composition contest ‘Juan Bautista Comes’, and also his work 'Memento mori' won the first prize in the international composition contest 'Horacio Salgán'. In 2012, his work 'Gagarará' won the II Internacional prize of Composition 'IslaVerde' (Argentina), and his Septet for wind instruments 'Heptafonías' received a Mention of Honor in the 'Valencia CREA 2011' composition competition, and Valencia Prize at 2014 for his Chamber Suite, organized by the Ministry of Culture of Valencia. His works are under edition of Barry Editorial (Argentina) and Piles Editorial (Spain).

 

He has been invited by the University of Valencia (UPV) to give a series of seminars about vocal music and contemporary composition techniques, as Artistic Director of the project 'VOZeArte', an initiative that brings together composers and musicians from different countries. He has been also invited to join several festivals all over the world, for example by the Univerity of Mainómines (Argentina) to join in the second International Festival of New Music, in Recoleta Cultural Center (Buenos Aires), Ancient Music Festival of Segorbe (Spain), among others.
