Brian Martínez (Spain, 1981), spanish composer, multimedia artist, researcher and teacher. He studied Composition, at the Higher Conservatory of Music “Joaquín Rodrigo” of Valencia. Besides on his musical education, he completed his studies at the University of Valencia, graduating as a Physicist. Master’s degree in Musical Research by the International University of La Rioja (UNIR), Master’s degree in Advanced Artificial Intelligence by The National Distance Education University (UNED), and PhD in arts the field of Computer-Assisted Composition by the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV).

In 2003 he has been awarded with a "Séneca" grant to study astrophysics in the University of "La Laguna" (Tenerife, Spain). Cooperates as an associated researcher in the Polytechnic University of Valencia working as an IT developer, analyst and software architect. He has been Professor of Applied Technologies, electroacoustic composition and acoustics in the Higher Conservatory of Music "Salvador Seguí" in Castellón (Spain) and Professor of Music Technology in the Higher Conservatory of Music "Joaquín Rodrigo" of Valencia. He currently belongs (by public examination) to the body of Professors of Music and Performing Arts in the specialty of Music Technology, exercising his teaching and researching work in the Higher Conservatory of Music “Massotti Littel” of Murcia from 2018 to 2023, and currently at Conservatory of Music “Joaquín Rodrigo” of Valencia as a member of the Department of Sonology.

His works have been played in concert halls and classical music festivals all over the world, like The Killian Hall (Massachussets Institute of Technology, Boston, USA), The Riverside Recital Hall of The University of Iowa, The University of Washington Tacoma, Icelandic National Gallery (Reykjavik, Iceland), “Palau de la Música de Valencia” (Valencia, Spain), Cultural Center “La Beneficència'“ (Valencia, Spain), Palace “Marqués de dos aguas” (Valencia, Spain), Concert Hall “El Aleph” (Buenos Aires, Argentina), The Jan Hus Church ( New York, USA), among others.

He has received commissions by musicians such as Ronald Romm (EEUU), John Manning (EEUU), Paul Archibald (England), Frank Lloyd (Germany), Jacques Mauguer (France), César Ahumada (Argentina), John Faieta (USA), Ángel Subero (Venezuela), the Italian guitarist Piero Bonaguri, the German violinist Viktoria Elisabeth Kaunzner, the American pianist Daniel Sachs, and ensembles like the Atlantic Brass Quintet (USA), the Trio Anima (Serbia), the Tritantic Brass Ensemble (USA), Ensemble Música Nueva (Argentina), the HarpVerk duo (Iceland), the Sidney Contemporary Orchestra (Australia), the Orchestra of the University Maimónides (Argentina), The String Orchestra Concertante (Serbia), The Stradivari Symphony Orchestra (Madrid), or The Young Orchestra Turina (Valencia), The Orchestra of the Theater of Castalla (Alicante), among others.

He has won several prizes for different works. In 2013, his work “Gloria in excelsis Deo” for choir, was awarded the first prize of the international composition contest “Juan Bautista Comes”, and also his work “Memento mori” won the first prize in the international composition contest “Horacio Salgán”. In 2012, his work “Gagarará”, for brass ensemble, won the II International prize of Composition “IslaVerde” (Argentina), and his Septet for wind instruments “Heptafonías” received a Mention of Honor in the “Valencia CREA 2011” composition competition, organized by the Ministry of Culture of Valencia. His works and his research articles are under edition of Barry Editorial (Argentina), Piles Editorial (Spain) and Springer (USA).

He has been invited by several international Festivals like the Festival of New Music at the University of Mainómines (Argentina), The IslaVerde brass Festival (Argentina), The Atlantic Brass Seminar (Boston), Festival NIMUS (Serbia), the Composer's Voice-15-min-of-fame (USA), Festival Internacional Compositores de Hoje (Brasil) or The Choral Festival of Segorbe (Spain). Besides, he was the artistic conductor of the contemporary vocal cycle "VozeArte" based at the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), chairman of the association of Composers from Valencia and Artistic Manager of the Youth Orchestra Turina.
